On Saturday, May 24, 75 players gathered for the <em>Lo Romero Golf Invitational Tournament 2025<\/em>, sending their balls flying for a noble cause. This marks the sixth consecutive year that the Alicante course, located in Pilar de la Horadada, has selflessly hosted the event to raise funds\u2014this time, to support the <em>Lola del Pasico Residence<\/em> in Torre Pacheco, Murcia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In previous years, the tournament helped raise awareness and fund the residence\u2019s construction. Now, the project is a reality (its foundation was laid in 2022) and houses 12 residents, with capacity set to grow. The facility supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, offering them greater autonomy beyond their family environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;I\u2019m thrilled to have participated and contributed to this cause, both through prizes and a small financial donation,&#8221;<\/em> said Borja Vera, CEO and co-founder of Murcia-based <em>Votum World<\/em>, after winning the tournament\u2019s scratch category with a score of 71.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Selfless Collaborations<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The day was ripe for strong performances, thanks to the course\u2019s exceptional greens, fairways, and bunkers. The tee boxes were adorned with the names of the first 18 companies that donated directly to the cause. The list of contributors\u2014businesses, institutions, professionals, suppliers, and friends\u2014grew steadily in the days leading up to the event, boosting the charity account (<em>ES96 3058 0228 2127 2001 8969<\/em>), which remains open for donations to the <em>Fundaci\u00f3n Dar de S\u00ed<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The golf world also rallied behind the cause. Federative leaders and top players like <em>Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Olaz\u00e1bal, Miguel \u00c1ngel Jim\u00e9nez, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Lara<\/em>, and Scottish golfer <em>Colin Montgomerie<\/em> donated signed equipment. Elite athletes such as tennis stars <em>Carlos Alcaraz<\/em> and <em>Juan Carlos Ferrero<\/em>, along with cyclist <em>Alejandro Valverde<\/em>, also joined the effort. Spanish courses like <em>Real Club de Golf Guadalhorce (M\u00e1laga), Real Golf de Bendinat (Balearic Islands), Golf Santa Ponsa (Balearic Islands)<\/em>, and <em>Las Ramblas Golf (Alicante)<\/em> participated, alongside international venues like Berlin\u2019s <em>Faldo Course<\/em> and Morocco\u2019s <em>Al Houara Golf Club<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Record-Breaking Fundraising<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s \u20ac73,000 haul surpassed 2024\u2019s \u20ac40,000. The funds will help the <em>Fundaci\u00f3n Dar de S\u00ed<\/em> (founded in 2003 to turn the residence dream into reality) repay loans, as explained by <em>Ascensi\u00f3n M\u00e9ndez<\/em>, a key figure in the project through her role at <em>Asociaci\u00f3n Prometeo<\/em> and alongside ideologist <em>Pedro Jim\u00e9nez<\/em>, Torre Pacheco\u2019s former mayor and a lifelong golf enthusiast at 91.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two days after the tournament, the <em>Lola del Pasico Residence<\/em> was officially inaugurated in the presence of <em>Murcia\u2019s Regional President, Fernando L\u00f3pez Miras<\/em>. M\u00e9ndez praised the &#8220;invisible army of big hearts&#8221; behind the project, calling the residence <em>&#8220;a fruit of love from many generous hands.&#8221;<\/em> L\u00f3pez Miras honored Jim\u00e9nez, saying, <em>&#8220;Your heart is enormous,&#8221;<\/em> and hailed the residence as <em>&#8220;a model of humanity and collaboration.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A touching moment came when residents received two <em>Lo Romero Golf<\/em> flags signed by <em>Alcaraz<\/em> and <em>Ferrero<\/em>, inscribed: <em>&#8220;To our friends at Lola del Pasico, with love.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tournament Highlights<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After a day that began at 8:30 AM and ended on <em>Lo Romero\u2019s<\/em> terrace, players enjoyed refreshments from <em>Estrella Levante<\/em> and a meal by chef <em>Joaqu\u00edn Madrid<\/em> of <em>El Rinc\u00f3n de Joaqu\u00edn<\/em> (San Cayetano), who donated his services.
